My inaugural meal in Vietnam

Finally arrived at my hostel
Immigration took a long while (I got in the wrong line at first), and I got a bit lost getting from the bus (from the airport) to the hostel, but I made it!

Warung Eropa
I just experienced some of the best restaurant service of my life at Warung Eropa in Seminyak. I went to try their famous fried duck, and ordered some sides as well. Surprised by my adventurous order of salted duck egg, the manager, David, came over and gave me a tour of the menu, describing several traditional Indonesian dishes/desserts. Based on his recommendation, I tried the bubur sumsum.

It was so delicious, I asked for the recipe. Simply simmer the following over low heat until thick:

At Warung Eropa, it was served with palm syrup and jackfruit, but I’m sure it would also be tasty with honey, maple syrup, or other sweeteners.
Here’s a picture of me David took for the restaurant’s Instagram:

Starfruit juice

Definitely don’t see that every day. Good for the novelty, but I’ll take mango or avocado juice over starfruit every time
